Tomar & the FCs is a soul band formed in 2015 in Austin, Texas. Tomar Williams got his start singing lead and playing various instruments in his family band as a teenager. Starting in the late ’90s, Tomar and his brother, Salih, formed the production team, Carnival Beats, and produced southern hip-hop hits for the better part of a decade (Big Mo, Mike Jones, 2Pac). More recently, the Williams brothers led the backup band for soul singer Latasha Lee. With the support of the FCs, Tomar returns to his roots and showcases his own soul chops “with searing vocals and songs that drip with blood, sweat and tears.” (Deborah Sengupta Stith, Austin American Statesman)
Tomar & The FCs have drawn comparisions to contemporaries Leon Bridges, Alabama Shakes, and Charles Bradley and idols Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, and James Brown.
Tomar & the FCs opened 2016 with a NYE show at the historic Continental Club in Austin and were a showcasing artist at SXSW in March. In April, the band recorded their debut album at Level One studio with Grammy winning artist/engineer Adrian Quesada (Brownout, Grupo Fantasma, Echocentrics).
